Fermented Lemonade
Fermented Lemonade is your favorite summer drink with a probiotic upgrade.

Ingredients
Everything you need.
- 150–180 ml fresh lemon juice (from 5–6 medium lemons)
- 80–100 g raw cane sugar or jaggery (adjust to taste)
- 10–12 g sea salt
- 1.8 L filtered water
- (Optional) Slices of fresh ginger or mint leaves for extra flavor
Method
Step-by-step.
- Prepare the Lemon Base. In a small bowl, mix lemon juice, sugar (or jaggery), and sea salt with a little warm water to help everything dissolve evenly.
- Add to the Jar. Pour this mixture into a clean 2L fermentation jar. Add ginger slices or mint leaves if desired.
- Add Water and Stir. Top up with filtered water (about 1.8 L) and stir gently to mix. Leave about 2 inches of headspace at the top of the jar to allow room for gases to build during fermentation.
- Seal with an Airlock. Close the jar with an airlock lid for safe, clean fermentation. Fill the airlock halfway with clean water so gases can escape safely without letting air or contaminants in.
- Ferment Naturally. Keep the jar at room temperature (22–30°C) for 2–3 days until the lemonade turns slightly tangy and mildly fizzy.
- Strain and Bottle. Strain the fermented lemonade into clean bottles or jars. For more fizz, bottle tightly and ferment for one additional day before chilling.
- Chill and Serve. Refrigerate and serve cold — a naturally sparkling, probiotic lemonade that’s both delicious and gut-friendly.
